DFID’s partnerships with civil society organisations

ICAI is today publishing a new review of DFID’s partnerships with civil society organisations (CSO), which found the results of UK aid work delivered by CSOs has been hampered by delays and uncertainty in the government’s funding decisions.

The review found the results of DFID-funded CSO projects were positive, generally delivering effective development and humanitarian interventions, and highlighted that DFID was seen to be a supportive, if somewhat inflexible, donor once project implementation had begun.

However, it warned that most projects in the review’s sample were unlikely to achieve lasting changes because their duration was too short.
