DFID’s approach to disability in development – new review

16 May 2018

ICAI has conducted a rapid review of DFID’s approach to disability and found that a step change is required to ensure UK aid meets the government’s ambitions for people with disabilities.

The review praised DFID for its efforts to put disability inclusion at the “heart of everything”, however it said there was a considerable distance to go to meet this commitment.

Although DFID has made a useful start and is scaling up activities ahead of the global disability summit taking place in July 2018, more detailed planning, stronger disability expertise among staff, and faster implementation is needed to achieve transformational results.
