ICAI is led by a full-time chief commissioner and two part-time commissioners. Commissioners are appointed after a competitive process overseen by the Office of the Commissioner for Public appointments. They are in post for a four-year term.
ICAI is led by chief commissioner Dr Tamsyn Barton, and two part-time commissioners, Tarek Rouchdy and Sir Hugh Bayley.
All commissioners abide by the Seven Principles of Public Life and complete a code of conduct return annually.
